Carpet Diem
Bold, refreshing color is cause for celebrating the selection
at Timothy Paul Carpets & Textiles in Washington, D.C.
Partnership in life and work agrees with Timothy and Mia
Worrell. The carpets and textiles in their sleek Washington,
D.C., shop have a growing following of designers hungry for
innovation. Timothy specializes in carpets, while Mia focuses
her efforts on six lines of textiles and exclusive lighting
and furnishings from the United States, Canada, and France. “When
we opened, we told ourselves we wanted the world’s best
handmade offerings in here,” says Timothy.
The appeal of each item in the well-edited space underscores
the couple’s design savvy. Timothy managed Odegard Carpets
in The Washington Design Center in Washington, D.C., for several
years, and Mia directed national sales at Donghia in New York.
Marrying their love of carpets and textiles was a no-brainer.
Now, with designers pairing bright kilims with antique rugs
that “float” on top and ordering old textiles backed
in linen for custom throws, Timothy feels that “all the
intangibles, from selecting and delivering carpets to Mia’s
marketing background,” have come together to promote
their artistic vision.
